Evolving a classic, with panoramic views over the River Thames in Richmond.

The Petersham Restaurant in Richmond benefits from panoramic, floor-to-ceiling views of the famous bend in the River Thames and surrounding Petersham Meadows. Kanvass were invited to redesign this classic local favourite, working closely with owners Luana and Greville Dare to evolve the design into a timeless classic.

The space is light filled and provides an ever changing backdrop for diners. The early morning light was the inspiration for lighter, playful tones drawing from deep blues and greys.

With a strong following for Head Chef Jean-Didier Gouges and his modern British food, the Petersham remains a huge success.

“Their professionalism, their can-do attitude and their talent for design are just a few of the reasons why I would not hesitate to use Kanvass again on future projects or indeed recommend them to others”
Tristram HillierMD, Kanvass
“As a Richmond resident for 12 years there was a deep connection with the signature elements to this wonderful property that we wanted to enhance. The restaurant views of the river were our core inspiration, ever aware of the impact of the changing seasons and its effect on the interior. We are delighted with how it has worked to bring light and life into the space.”
The Telegraph
“The hotel overlooks Petersham Meadows and the bend in the River Thames between Richmond and Teddington, a view that has been most famously captured by J.M.W Turner (Tate Britain) and which became a popular beauty spot in the 18th and 19th centuries.”
